Box-2

She has completed post graduate training in Maternity Reflexology and for the past 12 years, she has loved the rewarding nature of working with her maternity clients. Relaxation tips, visualisations and advice on support services are all part of your reflexology treatments with Sarah. A full consultation will be carried out at the first treatment to ensure that all appointments are tailored personally and ensuring you have a safe, confidential space to discuss any fears or concerns.

Reflexology is safe throughout all stages of pregnancy and regular treatments can help prevent numerous pregnancy ailments. As well as increasing your energy levels, reflexology may provide relief for:

  • Stress and Anxiety about Pregnancy and the Forthcoming Birth
  • Nausea
  • Back Pain and Sciatica
  • Heartburn and Digestive Issues
  • Foot/ankle swelling
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Constipation
  • Cystitis
  • Insomnia and Sleep Issues
  • Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction

You may need to get permission from your midwife or GP in the case of certain medical conditions. We can discuss this at your consultation.

Sarah is happy to provide mobile treatments in your home during the later stages of pregnancy or when health prevents travel.

Preparation for Labour

Research has shown that women who receive reflexology during their pregnancy can experience shorter labour times and the need for drugs is greatly reduced. A study in which a group of 37 pregnant women received 10 treatments from week 20 showed a reduction in labour time by up to 60%. The average time for the first stage of labour was reduced to 6 hours (compared to the textbook average of 16 hours). The second and third stage were reduced to 16 minutes (compared to the textbook average of 1-2 hours) - Dr. Gowri Motha, Forest Gate, Nursing Times, Oct. 11, 1989

Are you past your due date?

For mums-to-be who are overdue and keen to avoid being medically induced, reflexology can be very effective in 'priming' your body for labour. Sarah offers this treatment from your 40th week of pregnancy and it must be confirmed that no health or pregnancy issues are present.

Reflexology can continue to be a great support after the birth of your baby!

I always look forward to my Reflexology with Sarah, my pregnancy sickness has eased and my sleep has really improved since my first visit. The cabin is always peaceful and cosy, and it’s always the most relaxing hour of my week by far!
